💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - LinkedIn just launched Collaborative Posts which lets two or more accounts (people and pages) publish the same post together. Buffer explained how the posts work and why marketers should care about this solid new opportunity.

💡 Insight - LinkedIn’s new Collaborative Posts is a step above tagging/mentioning another user or brand in a post. With these post types, every collaborator’s name sits at the top and the post lands in all of their networks at once, not just the original author’s. So, all participants get equal credit and the post gets way more mileage than if you just tagged each other.

Keep in mind, this feature is still in beta so not everyone can make a collab post yet. If you do have access, you’ll go to your profile (or your Page’s profile) under Settings → Notifications → Collaborations. Very similar to how Collaboration Posts function on Instagram.

For marketers, the biggest opportunity with Collab Posts is credibility. When a creator co-posts with a brand page, the creator gets validation from an official brand while the brand gets the creator’s unique voice and engaged audience. It’s essentially like a brand co-signing or endorsing a post.

Some ways Buffer suggests brands might use Collab Posts include:

  • Brand partnerships - the obvious one, when a creator and brand page co-author a single post

  • Co-marketing with a peer - two creators or two brands with overlapping audiences team up on a launch, report, or joint event

  • Team amplification - employees co-author with the company page

  • Event and Live recaps - a recap of an event from a creator, shared by everyone involved

  • Launches and announcements - putting both partner and the brand on a product or feature announcement where work was shared

  • Customer and community spotlights - co-author with the person whose story you’re telling
