🗞 TL;DR - If your website visitors are reaching you through an organic search result, they’re probably finding you through long-tail keywords. And while long-tail keywords may not drive as much traffic as head terms, Neil Patel says, “they do drive conversions.” On their blog, NP Digital dove into the latest data on these high-converting keywords, and we’ve listed the key takeaways below.
💡 Insight - Here are the key findings from the latest long-tail keyword data and NP’s suggestions:
With the introduction of AI, more people are typing in longer-tail queries and the conversion rates tend to be higher
1.94% of average conversion rates were on keywords with 6 words and 1.83% of conversion rates were on 7+ words
On average, 82.53% of a website’s organic traffic comes from search terms that are 3+ words
Keywords that are 10-15 words in length tend to get 2.18x the amount of clicks than keywords that are 1-2 words in length
Organic content is the best place for long-tail keywords, but especially: blog posts, product descriptions, web copy, FAQs, case studies, tutorials, and how-to guides. Start by identifying relevant keywords (pro tip: use tools like Answer The Public or Google Trends to find these!) then create high-quality content that addresses those topics.
