💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - Reddit just published a new research report looking at the power of its subreddit communities in influencing purchase behavior, either directly or via third party apps. The 29-page report has a ton of insights to help brands build an effective Reddit presence, but we’ve listed the key takeaways below.

💡 Insight - Did you know Reddit has an impact on app downloads and usage? The study found a 97% higher 30 day retention rate of APAC Redditors vs users from other social media platforms – a 49% higher 30 day rate in North America. Reddit’s quality of information and insights users get from subreddits resulted in higher user retention rates of apps downloaded via the site.

In terms of impacting product purchase behavior, Reddit was found to be the #1 most trustworthy platform to inform product/brand decisions from survey respondents. 43% of product recommendation conversations on the platform are product redirects (where people come to discover new options or consider alternatives). And 2 in 3 Redditors would purchase a product if they saw an ad about it on Reddit.

The value of the platform is that conversations in subreddits are predominantly conducted by humans with people offering real, informed insights into products.

Lastly, the report touches on how brands can maximize their Reddit presence by pointing out the three things audiences need to believe for mass adoption to occur:

  1. Reddit like a Redditor. Really understand what makes your community tick.

  2. Understand more about your customer’s journey (by expanding your event tracking).

  3. Lean into tools and insights to improve your customer’s experience.
