🌎 What are companies like Google, IBM, and RingCentral doing in South Africa?

If you’re hiring SDRs or salespeople in 2025 listen up. Some of the world’s biggest tech companies are outsourcing their cold calling and SDR teams to South Africa and it’s not hard to see why.

💡 Over 5 million people speak NATIVE English in the country and thousands of reps with experience selling in industries like tech, finance, marketing, and many others.

💡 Today’s Insight 💡

🗞 TL;DR - Turns out, long-form video may be having a renaissance. Social media scheduling and analytics platform Buffer recently analyzed 1.1 million TikToks to determine whether shorter or longer videos get more views on the platform and it looks like good news for those who are talkative or those who just hate editing down content.

💡 Insight - First of all, let’s look at a breakdown at the distribution of video lengths on the platform (from the sampled size): 33.7% of videos were 10-30 seconds, 27.3% were 30-60 secs, 22.2% were 5-10 secs, 12.3% were 60 secs - 10 mins, 2.8% were under 5 secs.

Buffer found that the longer the video is, the higher the reach tends to be. According to the data, videos longer than one minute tend to get: 43.2% more reach than videos in the 30-60 second range, 70.3% more reach than 10-30 sec videos, and 95.7% more reach than 5-10 sec videos.

Also of note: the longer the video, the higher the watch time. Videos longer than one minute get 63.8% more watch time than 30-60 sec videos, 175.6% more than 10-30 sec videos, and 264.5% more than 5-10 sec videos.

Why? Well, TikTok’s algorithm may reward longer videos by surfacing them to more users because they want to keep users on the platform as long as possible. There’s also less competition in the 60+ second category, giving them more of a chance to stand out.

If long videos (aka 1-10 min videos) feel too overwhelming to make, the sweet spot for impactful reach and engagement are videos between 30-60 seconds long.
