🗞 TL;DR - It’s widely known at this point that audiences are rebelling against entirely AI-generated content (just ask people how they feel about em dashes these days). But it’s also true that AI can help expedite content processes and make humans faster at creating more. The team at NP Digital spent six months testing a repeatable way to scale quality content faster using AI without sacrificing a human voice that saw 36% YoY growth compared to 11% for those relying solely on human-generated content.
💡 Insight - Here’s what the process looks like:
Train your AI to think like the client. Create customized GPTs for each client and train the model to recognize the client’s voice and brand language without needing constant reminders. This can take a few iterations.
Start with strategy. Prompt your AI to generate a five-point outline based on a blog title or webpage topic to help streamline the writing process.
Become a prompting expert. Get strategic when prompting, thinking about who you want to talk to, your constraints, and what you’re trying to accomplish. A clear, detailed prompting strategy is key to getting the useful outputs you’re looking for.
Generate your content in chunks. Don’t ask the tool to write a 1,000 word blog post in a single sentence prompt. Instead, guide your AI through each section based on the content outline with one prompt for each paragraph.
Polish and optimize. This is where humans can add the most value. Review each section, read the work from top to bottom, and remove AI’s stale, robotic, and monotonous approaches.
Fact check, edit, and complete. Make sure all information is accurate, verify that any sourced links are credible and current, and incorporate internal links where relevant.
In short, don’t assume AI can do it all, but look at it as a productivity tool for your experienced human writers.
