Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - According to a new Morning Consult study, 61% of U.S. respondents said they’ve become more selective about what they post. People aren’t necessarily leaving social media, they’re just posting less and lurking more.

Users cite reasons including social media being less fun, covered in useless ads, and full of hyper-curated influencers with unrealistic content.

💡 Insight - Brands might read this and think users are sick of their content. And you wouldn’t be entirely wrong. But the key here is to read the intent behind what’s actually happening.

People are sick of useless irrelevant content and ads. Which means, if you want your brand to get attention AND not get left behind, you’ve gotta ensure the content you’re providing is useful to the audience you’re targeting.

When people get tired of the “spray and pray” style of digital marketing that’s become so popular on social media, the brands that invest in curating a dedicated community of users will stand out and remain. Take time cultivating your audience, growing a community, and providing value, and your audience may never grow tired of you.
