āØ Todayās Insight āØ
š°Ā TL;DR -Ā Frontera argues that simple brands win by sticking to their mission and not overcomplicating themselves. Take the case study of burger chain Five Guysā¦ in 1986 the founders launched their brand with a simple strategy: Make the tastiest burgers with fresh ingredients.
Despite using next to zero marketing and letting word-of-mouth spread, the business succeeded and now has over 1700 locations worldwide.
š”Ā Insight - Youāll have many turning points in your brandās lifetime where you have to choose: stick to the mission or pivot. As your company grows, youāll feel the irresistible urge to add new products, services, or offers. Every new addition runs the risk of overcomplicating your brand.
As Frontera says, nobody has the mental energy to figure out brands and what they stand for. The world is complex enough. People want brands that are easy to understand and explain.
Lean into simplifying your brand can be challenging but, funny enough, simple. Do less, but better. 20% of your activities bring 80% of the revenue. Take the complexity away from the customer. Become known for one thing that canāt be compared to anything else. Be unapologetic. Not everyone will love your brand or hate your brand, but at least theyāll know what you stand for.
