🕵️♀️ Google added AI content detection tools to Gemini. The new option allows Gemini chat users to check if a video was edited or created with Google AI by simply asking. The tool will let users know if its SynthID watermark was detected.
💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Microsoft Bing’s experts recently explained how duplicate content can hurt your visibility in AI Search, as well as how to reduce the challenges of duplicated content.
💡 Insight - Simply put, when content is duplicated, AI systems struggle to interpret signals from the site which reduces the likelihood that the correct version is chosen or summarized correctly. AI Search is built on the same signals that support traditional SEO, so duplicates can blur intent and create confusion for the models to decide which version matters most.
Syndicated content can also create problems and is often overlooked by brands. Content you publish on your site and allow others to republish still counts as duplicate content in the eyes of these AI models.
So, how do you reduce duplicate content? Consider removing or consolidating any content on your own site. For syndicated content, ask the syndication partner to either rework the content (to remove similarities), noindex the content (so search engines don’t see it), or add a canonical tag to the original version on your site.
Other sources of duplicate content can be: campaign pages (when multiple versions only differ by minor changes), localized pages, or other technical SEO issues like multiple URLs.
