🗞 TL;DR - According to a new analysis from Microsoft of 37.5 million Copilot chats between January and September, how people use the AI agent depends on whether they’re using the assistant on mobile versus desktop. The research dove deeper into usage patterns across device types and time of day.
💡 Insight - Here’s what the report found:
On mobile, Health and Fitness is the most common topic throughout the day with users seeking information and advice
On desktop, Technology is the most common topic with work-related conversations rising during business hours
Three distinct modes of interaction were found: the workday, the constant personal companion, and the introspective night
Outside of business hours, there’s a shift toward more personal and reflective topics such as Religion and Philosophy
A few other rises in niche topics include:
Work and Career overtaking Technology between 8am-5pm
Programming conversations are more common on weekdays
Gaming rises on weekends
Relationship conversations spike on Valentine’s Day
