💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Throw away everything you thought you knew about LinkedIn engagement. A new study of over 577k LinkedIn posts from nearly 48k company pages over three years looked at common marketing advice and asked: what actually boosts engagement on the platform?
💡 Insight - Here are the key takeaways from the study:
Posts with links get 13.57% more interactions and 4.9% more views than posts without links
31% of LinkedIn posts in the study contained links to other websites – these posts consistently did better than posts without links
Carousels (document posts) work best for engagement, with the highest engagement rate (45.85%) of any format
Polls only make up 0.00034% of all posts analyzed but got 206.33% more reach than average posts
Text-only posts were incredibly common but performed worse than visual content across all metrics, receiving the fewest interactions
Video posting has increased 13.77% but users are also engaging more with video content, with a 73.39% rise in impressions and 52.17% increase in views
Sectors with smaller followings (for example, manufacturing companies) often received higher engagement per post
