But unlike how many businesses treat the platform, it’s not all just outbound and out of your control. With strategic planning, you can build a scalable, practical approach to proactively enhance your business presence on your Google Business profile.

💡 Insight - First, establish your baseline. Catalog the details of your Google Business Profile (or profiles) and check for missing claims or inaccurate details. You may also want to pull data such as: how many reviews does your page have? What’s the average score? Are the reviews recent? Is anyone responding to them?

Next, craft your review management strategy. How you respond or don’t respond to reviews sends a message about your brand’s values and ability to consistently deliver a satisfactory experience. When appropriate, use reviews as an opportunity to share relevant information for people viewing the reviews – such as promotional details. Also consider how to use strong reviews in ads, on your website, or inside stores.

Then, incorporate review asks into natural touchpoints in your business to create a steady stream of fresh reviews. Recent positive reviews signal to Google and viewers that your business is active and trusted – but this shouldn’t be an extreme effort on your team’s part. Use tools (automated, if possible!) like email follow-ups, SMS reminders, or handouts with QR codes to make it easy for customers to leave feedback.

Finally, make reviews part of your company culture. Share review insights regularly with all business leaders, so everyone stays aligned and customer-focused.
