🐦 10k Character Tweets Are Coming(?)

📰 TL;DR - You may have noticed those super long, “show more” tweets lately that seem to go on and on. These long-form tweets with 4k character limits were released last month to Twitter Blue’s 300k paid subscribers. But Elon Musk says that even LONGER tweets – up to 10k characters – are on their way to the app.

💡 Insight - Twitter’s always been known for its’ tight character limits, which has become a uniquely quintessential element of the social network. When they made the switch in 2017 from the original 140 character limit to 280 characters, users celebrated. But there’s less excitement over these long-form, seemingly never-ending tweets. Twitter’s brevity, some may argue, is what makes it Twitter. Definitely will be an interesting test… but sometimes just because you have more characters doesn’t mean you need to use them.

🏠 Microsoft Advertising Is Bringing Inventory In-House

📰 TL;DR - Microsoft announced that over the next few months they’ll be transitioning the majority of Display, Native, and In-Stream Video Inventory on MSN, Outlook, and Microsoft Casual Games to their in-house teams through Monetize SSP. Advertisers will be able to tap into a full-funnel, digital advertising offering with more direct access to Microsoft’s inventory across platforms, screens and markets. Most major DSPs already have integrations with Monetize SSP, and advertisers can purchase inventory through their DSP of choice.

💡 Insight - Many advertising networks are bringing their operations in house these days, so the move isn’t entirely surprising. But a major player like Microsoft moving over to their own teams is an impactful statement. Hopefully being in-house will simplify the system for advertisers and provide the benefits that Microsoft claims. We’ll be looking forward to any cool new ad spots and advertiser features once Microsoft’s settled into the move.
