💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Reddit is more than just a place to find wedding horror stories and determine if an internet stranger is an a**hole for eating their pregnant wife’s cupcake (although you could find those if you wanted, and it will be entertaining).
The social media platform is evolving into a search engine of its own, with users typing “Reddit” after their search query on Google more frequently than ever. It’s an app that encourages information sharing among the community, often making it a trusted source over brand websites and even original content sources.
💡 Insight - If Reddit is becoming somewhat of its own Google, that means that marketers can leverage it for SEO. Reddit contains a ton of potential for marketers, but it isn’t like other social media apps. Before you dive head first into a content strategy, take note of these pros and cons:
Pro: Authentic audience insight. Reddit sparks conversations that often reveal genuine pain points, trends, and common questions.
Pro: Keyword-rich content. Natural discussions are great for gaining a better understanding of the language that your audience actually uses.
Pro: Evergreen value. If a thread gains traction, it can continue to drive traffic well after it was posted (sometimes years).
Con: Strict community rules. Redditers don’t play around — they will immediately downvote anything that feels disingenuous or spammy.
Con: It’s time-intensive. Reddit is built around meaningful engagement and participation, which requires more energy than quick, one-off posts.
Con: Reputation risk. Reddit highly discourages self-promotion, so your approach will need to be strategic. If members catch on to your agenda, your credibility will be damaged faster than it takes to downvote a post.
⚡️ Today’s Headlines ⚡️
🧵 Threads is working out an option to replicate your X follows. The feature is still a bit flawed because users have to manually download their X info, and Threads can’t yet guarantee 100% accuracy.
🎰 Let’s make a bet? I’m slowly but surely starting to post more on LinkedIn. So here’s the bet: if you take 5 seconds to follow me here … I’ll share impactful & funny marketing content. Then, if you don’t absolutely love the content within 30 days, you can comment something nasty on the post. Deal? You do you your end here!
🖼️ xAI launched a new API for generating images. Only one model is avaialble in the API at the moment, but the model can generate up to 10 images per request (limited to five requests per second) in JPG format.
⚙️ Meta is giving WhatsApp Business Users new API solutions. The solutions are a highly requested feature that allow businesses to use both the WhatsApp Business App and the Cloud API with the same phone number to gain access to advanced API tools.
