🗞 TL;DR - LinkedIn just shared new advice on how to maximize content performance in the app with a simple checklist of what you should include in every one of your LinkedIn updates, as well as how to optimize content for AI chatbot citations.

💡 Insight - Here’s LinkedIn’s checklist to cover for each post:

  • Publish 2-3x a week

  • Lead with the most important information

  • Frame your post as a question and answer

  • Keep posts between 200-300 words

  • Share timely insights, conversation starters, or summarize longer content

  • Publish a mix of posts and articles

As LinkedIn notes, “Consistency is one of the biggest drivers of reach on LinkedIn. Posting regularly signals to the algorithm that you’re an active, valuable contributor.”

In regards to optimizing for AI chatbots, LinkedIn’s VP of Marketing suggests that you start with a clean, strong opening line as that first sentence will generally become the post’s URL which all LLMs will pull from. Clear formatting, short paragraphs, and numbered lists (where appropriate) can also help.

And don’t underestimate the importance of engaging with comments. High quality comments (aka ones that add to the conversation with insights, questions, or different perspectives) within the first 24 hours are a positive signal that can impact how widely a post is distributed.
