Today’s Insight

📰 TL;DR - A new Pew Research Center study examined the behavior of U.S. adult TikTok users, finding that a minority of frequent posters create the vast majority of content on the site. This comes alongside earlier findings that one-third of U.S. adults say they use the video app.

💡 Insight - Some of the key highlights of the report:

  • The top 25% of U.S. adults on TikTok by posting volume produce 98% of all publicly accessible videos

  • About half of all U.S. adults on TikTok have never posted a video themselves

  • Users ages 18-34 are more likely to use TikTok in the first place, but only around half of these users have ever posted on the site (similar to users ages 35-49)

  • Users who have posted videos are more active on the platform in general than non-posters

  • TikTok users are still obsessed with the algorithmically curated “For You” page with 40% of users saying this content is interesting
