🗞 TL;DR - Social media scheduler Buffer analyzed over 2 million posts from 100k IG accounts and found one common thread: the more you post, the better your content performs. Not huge news, but a good reminder worth diving into – and we’ve got the highlights of Buffer’s report below.

💡 Insight - How often should you post on Instagram? Posting 3-5 times per week is the sweet spot for both reach and growth without burning out or sacrificing quality. Posting 3-5x weekly can more than double follower growth rate than 1-2x weekly, and could boost your reach per post by around 12% compared to baseline.

Does posting more hurt reach? Nope! The data actually shows that reach per post goes up with more frequent posting. If you want to dive more into the data…

  • More posts per week means more growth. Accounts that post more frequently consistently gain more Instagram followers relative to their baseline.

  • Not posting at all could lose you followers. Even posting once or twice a week results in a significant increase in follower growth compared to weeks with no posts.

  • Consistent posting drives real, measurable growth. Follower growth goes up during weeks when that same account posts more often (up to +0.66% follower growth for 10+ posts per week).

  • Posting more consistently increases weekly reach. The more you post in any given week, the higher your reach for the week will be.

  • Posting more means more reach per post. Instagram’s algorithm rewards consistency and accounts see the biggest reach jump moving from 1-2 to 3-5 posts per week.

All that to say, more doesn’t always mean better. The best posting schedule is one you can stick to consistently. Quality matters and content burnout is real, so focus on consistent, sustainable efforts over short bursts of high volume.
