💡 Today’s Insight 💡
🗞 TL;DR - Snapchat thinks so. In their new study, Snap looked at how happiness drives engagement in social apps. To test for happiness (which seems nearly impossible), Snap says it used eye-tracking technology and machine learning-based “emotional detection” from study participants.
💡 Insight - After reviewing ad response on Snapchat vs other social platforms, Snap says, “The difference in happiness levels between creatives with the highest amount of attention compared to those with the lowest amount of attention was over 10x for Snap.”
The data also showed a strong correlation between happiness and brand lift – aka ads that drove higher levels of happiness also tended to drive greater long-term lift, and the relationship was the strongest on Snapchat.
So, what makes Snap ads so happiness-inducing? Here’s what Snap says is their secret sauce to generating happier ads:
Including key elements: the use of sound, prominent branding, and storytelling
Ads that “tended to resonate with human needs and desires”
The use of bright colors and engaging visuals
